Today I’ll be showing you how to add the polygon network to your Metamask, maybe I should start by telling you what or why should you use Metamask… yeah let’s do that.

Metamask is a add-on or plugin to your web browser, you can use it both in your Chrome or Firefox browsers, you could also use it on your cellphone as it has a web browser in it’s app you can interact with websites that connects to the Web3.0… maybe in that sentence are a couple of terms you don’t know, but for now let’s keep talking about metamask.

In itself Metamask let you have a wallet for the ethereum network, and has connectivity to the Web3.0 sites that requires it, so it let’s you connect to all the sites, dapps, or any decentralized finance site that requires to interact to your wallet.

The cool thing about Metamask is that it allows you to add other network, like the Binance Smart Chain, Polygon, Huobi, etc. So you can use your wallet interact to apps or send/receive tokens in other networks, which in my experience is really cool. You can Also connect you hardware wallets to Metamask as an extra layer of security.

Now for our topic, that’s adding the Polygon network to Metamask, you can do it two different ways, a manual and a more automatic way. Let me explain you both:

Automatic: This is by far the easiest way, but if you to the network transaction scan site, in this case Polygonscan you will see in the bottom of the site that there’s a little button, this one:

There’s the “Add Polygon Network Button” (Yeah… two arrows, had fun drawing them)

Well, after you click it, Metamask will launch you a message that will ask if you want to add the network. Note: in the messages or name of the network the MATIC name could come along, it’s ok, that was the initial name of the project and the network keep using it.

Manual: To add the network manually you need to open MetaMask and click on the dropdown button at the top that says “Ethereum Mainnet”

Scroll to the bottom of the list and click “Custom RPC”. Fill in the fields as follows:

- Network Name: Polygon
- New RPC URL: https://polygon-rpc.com/
- Chain ID: 137
- Currency Symbol:
MATIC
- Block Explorer URL:
https://polygonscan.com/

And finally click “Save”

You can check the network data in the Polygon Official Guide check it out so you can see for yourself and confirm this information is correct and truthful.-

Finally always remember, no one in the Mooneh! Team or basically anywhere in the internet needs to know your seedphrase, your secret words to retrieve your wallet, they are secret for a reason, if anyone else has this information, they can duplicate your wallet an access your funds, so no sharing.

If you liked this How To guide, share it, keep it, and give us a comment through our other RRSS or discord channels.

Ciao, Renardku.-
